Intrauterine Insemination

15space.gif (44 bytes)This is effective treatment for low sperm count, poor post-coital test or other problems. The technique employs a speculum and the use of a small insemination catheter which is smaller than the tip of a ball point pen in diameter. This is painlessly introduced into the uterus and sperm that has been prepared (washed – capacitated) in a small volume is instilled into the uterine cavity. The procedure takes five minutes and does not require that the patient lie down and wait after the insemination. This is usually done the morning after a positive urine LH surge (Ovulation kit). For more information, see andrology.
